Pennisetum macrourum

A lovely grass forming evergreen clumps of grey-green leaves up to 60cm high. Very long racemes are produced which look like pipe cleaners on stems up to 1.8m in length, these start off a pale white and gradually turn to a yellow straw colour. E.A Bowles is said to have described it as looking "like a hybrid between a Siamese cat's tail and a pipe cleaner"
